Public Interest Design · pid on stage: Von Asche zu Aufbruch
Wed 28.02.24, 19:00
Thu 29.02.24, 19:00
Together with the audience, the students of pid on stage say goodbye to capitalism and explore new paths for a future society without growth constraints and excessive consumption.
On February 28 and 29, 2024, the students of the Master’s degree program in Public Interest Design invite you to a stage format that reveals the connections between the capitalist system and climate change and encourages an exchange of ideas. The free event will take place at 7 pm in the Pina Bausch Zentrum (Altes Schauspielhaus). Viewers are invited on an emotional journey in which they can join the students in saying goodbye to capitalist thought patterns and exploring new perspectives.
Inspired by Ulrike Herrmann's book „Das Ende des Kapitalismus“ (The End of Capitalism), the students will explore measures for a post-capitalist system. What can the departure into an alternative form of society look like? How do we get started? What do we lose? And what are we gaining? These are the questions that the event „Von Asche zu Aufbruch“ (From Ashes to Awakening) will address. In a captivating combination of performing and interactive elements, it will not only bid farewell to the capitalist system, but also create a space for shared wishes for the future, hopes and concrete demands. In a moderated exchange, ways are explored of how life in community and in dependence on our environment and nature can be redesigned.
The Master’s degree course in Public Interest Design has the vision of participating in the development of society through public projects, acting responsibly for the common good and asking relevant questions. The event was created as part of this year's first semester project with the support of Sparkasse Wuppertal, Barmenia, the Pina Bausch Zentrum and „die börse“ Kommunikationszentrum Wuppertal, supervised by Prof. Dr. Christoph Rodatz.
