PL3MONS is a hybrid, Afro-futuristic, 3D-style multimedia performance that floats on a post-apocalyptic scenario: climate change is a reality, and the population is in survival mode. FOKOVISME – that’s how Younes van den Broeck names his interdisciplinary art works – immerses the audience in a new reality, where plastic lives and plants gaze at you. This performance absorbs you into the universe of alien-like creatures called PL3MONS. These alien, parasitic creatures find through plastic a host to wreak havoc and destruction on Earth. Plant spirits are the embodiment of nature and the opposites of the PL3MONS. PL3MONS is about the predatory role of plastic and other polluters.

Younes van den Broeck, aka Spitler, is a young visual artist, presenting his work for the first time in Germany. He expresses his social commitment through art, spoken word and images. His spoken word is usually critical of the social structure. He is founder of the Loods Des Doods artists’ collective and is part of the new art movement ‘Fokovism’, a reaction against forms of education that limit an artist’s individuality, style and freedom of expression. In May 2018, Van den Broeck received the Queen Matilde Prize for the project Beyond beats and bars (in collaboration with Commusaic vzw), in which young people between the ages of 14 and 20 have a chance to get to know one another and make a hip-hop album. Since 2018 he worked in different phases on his first theatre performance PL3M0NS. In November 2019 he presented a work in progress in WIPCOOP (Work in Progress Cooperative), that gives artists and new performing arts creations an additional boost in their development, until they are ready to conquer the stages. PL3M0NS was then supported by d e t h e a t e r m a k e r, presented at the Festival Love at first sight in hetpalais, at De Singel in Antwerp and Theater Rotterdam.
