An unusual encounter between two personalities, navigating the spectrum between conformity and provocation, between controversial and vibrant artistic existence.

In this unusual collaboration, two personalities from the international dance world meet: Cristiana Morganti, former protagonist of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and now a freelance choreographer, and Emanuele Soavi, who grew up as a dancer with choreographers such as William Forsythe and Jiry Kylian and has been artistic director of the Emanuele Soavi incompany in Cologne in the last thirteen years.

Both are on stage in the double role of performer and author. With words, gestures and dance they explore their views on art and theatre, but also their origins, their lives as Italian ‘immigrants’ who have been living and working in Germany for more than 20 years.
THIS IS A PREMIERE is a collage of ‘objets trouvés’, memories of performances and splitters of life experience, in the form of physical dialogues: A magnifying glass on certain moments of their controversial and colourful artistic existence, leading to new ideas and associations, but also an ironic and snappy debate about the current ‘codes of behaviour’ in the world of dance, with omnipresent trends, implicit obligations, explicit prohibitions and ever stricter production requirements. How can one reconcile all this with one’s own stylistic signature and the indispensable need to preserve creative spontaneity? Let's talk about it and then … let’s dance.
