Who does the stage belong to? The participatory dance piece, ICH KANN'S NICHT LASSEN is Janne Gregor’s answer to this question. In ICH KANN'S NICHT LASSEN, participation becomes a design principle. Here, the audience determines how the piece unfolds. Children aged 6 and above and adults stand on stage with four dancers and discover the Krump dance style together. They engage in a choreographic game that Janne Gregor developed in collaboration with professional Krump dancers and several Berlin school classes. Krump originated as Afro-diasporic dance culture on the streets of Los Angeles and is based on rebellion against social inequality and discrimination. For many dancers, Krump is still a place of refuge and a substitute for family. Krump stands for community. It's about showing up and supporting each other. For Gregor, who does not dance Krump herself but comes from physical theater, this is an appealing but also sensitive environment for artistic work on the subject of participation and self-empowerment. ICH KANN’S NICHT LASSEN breaks down the usual hierarchies between audience and performers and turns choreography into a lively, democratic process. Dance becomes a means of communication, and each performance becomes a unique experience that makes it possible to experience why you simply can't stop dancing (and above all, Krumping).

Janne Gregor is a choreographer and performer. She studied physical theater and completed her master's degree in choreography at the HZT Berlin in 2017. Her intergenerational and interdisciplinary works have been shown at various venues: e.g. Ruhrfestspielhaus Recklinghausen, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr Mühlheim, Nordic House Reykjavík/Iceland, Radialsystem, PACT Zollverein, TD Berlin, Donko Seko Bamako/Mali, Houseclub HAU Berlin, LOFFT Leipzig, Junges Staatstheater Braunschweig, Junges DT/Deutsches Theater, Schwankhalle Bremen. As a performer she has worked with, among others: Marina Abramović, Joan Jonas, Micha Purucker, Willi Dorner, Kiriakos Hadjiioannou, Michael Vogel (Familie Flöz), Theater Strahl Berlin.

TANZKOMPLIZEN is the first venue in Berlin to produce dance exclusively and continuously for a young audience. In addition to guest performances and revivals, it regularly shows its own new productions, which are created in cooperation with various choreographers and dancers and use a wide variety of movement forms and dance styles.
