Join Us for a Garden Party Like No Other!
Transform. Create. Celebrate.
Choreographer Lee Méir invites you to step into a world where everyday objects become magical costumes and ordinary spaces transform into extraordinary stages. Whether you're a seasoned artist or simply curious about creative expression, this Garden Party workshop welcomes everyone to explore the joy of making together. Inspired by Mark Sieczkarek's innovative use of upcycled materials, we'll breathe new life into found objects, crafting them into wearable art and immersive sets. Through movement, play, and collective imagination, we'll discover how materials can reshape our presence and unlock new ways of being.
Come ready to embrace spontaneity, laugh with fellow creators, and celebrate the magic that emerges when we play together. Our workshop culminates in a festive garden party where we'll inhabit the costumes and environments we've created as a community.
No experience necessary – just bring your curiosity and sense of play!
Participants are requested to bring at least five items to the workshop that can serve as materials. These could include clothes, objects, textiles, and materials like plastic or paper –anything that sparks creativity or excitement. It's recommended to choose items that you're not concerned about potentially getting damaged.
Choreographer Lee Méir has been developing workshops that weave together costumes, craft, movement, and imagination—inviting both professionals and non-professionals to explore creativity in a playful and inclusive way. Her approach encourages participants to embrace spontaneity, intuition, and experimentation, while reflecting on how materials shape presence, perception, and artistic expression. Always tactile, open-ended, and infused with curiosity, her workshops create space for discovery through play. In the Garden Party workshop, inspired by Mark Sieczkarek’s visionary use of upcycled materials to create costumes and artworks, we will transform everyday found objects into costumes and sets, exploring new ways of moving and interacting with them. Through playfulness, poetics, and humor, participants collectively shape a festive environment that culminates in a shared garden party within the costumes and settings we have created together.
