What is a Pina Bausch Centre?

The Pina Bausch Centre is due to open in a few years. This is linked to the vision of a new, open and diverse cultural institution. In addition to the Tanztheater Pina Bausch, the Pina Bausch Foundation and an international production center, the urban community will also be an integral part of the center. Four components will be brought together to merge into a whole. And: it is to become more than the sum of its individual parts.

In March 2025, we are inviting the future users of the Pina Bausch Centre to join us in developing ideas for the new and different cultural institution. To this end, we are presenting the development of the Pina Bausch Centre to date in an entertaining and informative series of events along the Wuppertal valley axis: What has happened so far.

We then invite you to a two-day development journey as part of a workshop: What will have happened.

The project is part of the series Living in Politics and a cooperation between the Master's program Public Interest Design of the University of Wuppertal, the director and actor Olaf Reitz, the communication center die börse e. V. and key players of the future Pina Bausch Centre, financed by funds from the preliminary phase of the Pina Bausch Centre.
