ZWISCHENBLICKE
Fri 05.12. – Wed 31.12.25
on the windows of the Pina Bausch Centre under construction, Bundesallee 260, Wuppertal
With Zwischenblicke, we are working with deufert&plischke to make the windows of the Pina Bausch Centre under construction dance. We have selected images together. This marks the start of our new collaboration with the artist twins, who set up the Spinnerei in Schwelm and also work internationally.
Most recently, we collaborated on the joint dance project Ballroom Bliss, which will be realised in 2025 and 2026 in Wuppertal, Soweto in South Africa and Oulu in northern Finland (Capital of Culture 2026). It brings together seemingly contrasting dance styles and communities and creates new types of (ballroom) spaces as live art works. With Zwischenblicke, we are bringing motifs from Ballroom Bliss and many other artistic work processes into the public space.
The artist twins deufert&plischke on the ZWISCHENBLICKE project:
“We are delighted by the overwhelming response to our Zwischenblicke.
For a quarter of a century, we have moved together through spaces in which photography becomes less an act of depiction and more an act of encounter. Our camera understands itself not as a tool of precision, but as an attentive companion collecting atmospheres: fleeting gestures, resonant bodies, those quiet emotional vibrations that would otherwise slip away in passing.
What emerges is not an image in the conventional sense, but a moment that continues to breathe — a small space of possibility that opens anew whenever someone meets it with their attention.
All the more joyful for us is the thought that some of these moments now linger in the windows of the Pina Bausch Centre. From there, they look gently out into their surroundings, entering a silent dialogue with passersby — and at the same time ushering in our 25th year of working together.
A year in which we hope to keep searching, listening, and gathering: moments that do not capture, but connect.”
