What moves us? Cross-Generational Dance Theatre

In a series of workshops entitled Dance Theatre Today – What Does Dance Theatre Mean to You?, participants improvised using movement, language and personal stories, discovering new forms of expression of their own.

This collaborative exploration now forms the basis for a new piece, which is to be developed as a cross-generational dance theatre project involving 45 people of different ages.

Inspired by Pina Bausch’s Nelken Line, we are exploring lines, the four seasons and gestures. We are searching for our own movements and sequences of movement, exploring the joy of dancing and the question of how we can express something through our bodies.

What does a gesture convey? How can a line emerge through space? How does movement change with the seasons? And what emerges when people of different ages dance together?
