Pina Bausch Zentrum under construction, Bundesallee 260, Wuppertal

As part of the residency of Temporary Collective (CZ) at the Pina Bausch Centre under construction, we invite you to an open studio session for the international production GEO LOCAL Wuppertal. This collaboration with the Temporary Collective (CZ) was launched as a co-production with Tanz Station – Barmer Bahnhof.

We are particularly delighted to host a project that brings together such a unique group of artists – including Dominique Mercy, one of the most important dancers at Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and a key figure in the GEO LOCAL Wuppertal project. He has a long-standing and extraordinary connection to our building.

The GEO LOCAL project explores in depth the themes of sustainability, memory and the multi-layered histories of our building and our performance space.

This collaboration aligns with our institutional mission to support innovative, interdisciplinary and internationally engaged performing arts.

The project is part of a broader international framework exploring memory, place, and the dancer’s embodied archive. The collaboration builds on connections initiated at Tanzmesse 2024, where Thusnelda Mercy and Pascal Merighi discovered the work of Temporary Collective and initiated the dialogue that led to this collaboration. Dominique Mercy is a key artistic collaborator in the project.

GEO LOCAL Wuppertal is created by Temporary Collective (CZ) in co-production with Tanz Station – Barmer Bahnhof and Pina Bausch Centre under construction.

And with the support of the following partners:
The Place, London (UK)
HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts, Dresden (DE)
Unusual Symptoms / Theater Bremen (DE)

Many thanks to the Pina Bausch Foundation for the collaboration and support.
