Closed workshop for the nurseries
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Wuppertal Schauspielhaus, we will be dedicating a whole day to the future and our city’s greatest asset: CHILDREN! The idea is simple.
There are two parts:
1) FÜR KINDER – Children take the house! 25 September 2026
On 25 September 2026 the building will become during the day a creative space for around 400 preschool children from 20 Wuppertal daycare centres. Together with 20 artists, the children will explore dance and movement, music, painting, upcycling, acrobatics, circus and pantomime, among other artistic disciplines, shaping the Schauspielhaus in their own way.
A special visit awaits the children on the event day: Miriam Scherff, Mayor of Wuppertal, and Annette Berg, Councillor for Social Affairs, Youth, Schools and Integration, will also be visiting the project at 1 pm to see for themselves the creative work being done by the children and artists..
2) Workshops in den Kitas 14. – 18. September 2026
From 14 to 18 September 2026, the artists will already be visiting the participating daycare centres to work creatively with the children. On 25 September, everyone will come together at the Schauspielhaus and experience the building as a large artistic landscape with different stations for taking part, experimenting and discovering.
FÜR KINDER – Children take the house is a joint project of the Pina Bausch Zentrum and the Municipal Department for Daycare Centres of the City of Wuppertal, curated by Bettina Milz and Francesco Vecchione.
Please note: The event and the workshop week are not open to the public. Participation is exclusively for the daycare centres and children who have already registered. Registration is already closed.
The project is generously funded by the Enno and Christa Springmann Foundation, based in the Wuppertal, which was established in 1995 and is dedicated to promoting art and culture.
