2. Neomarathon Rheinruhr
Fri 20.11. – Sun 22.11.26
Pina Bausch Centre under construction, Bundesallee 260, Wuppertal
The second Neomarathon Rheinruhr will be an unforgettable experience. We’ll be in a wonderful location that’s unique in Germany: the new Pina Bausch Center, currently under construction, which is an architectural highlight from the 1970s. It’s being converted into the new home of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Pina Bausch brought Argentine tango to Wuppertal and turned the city into a stronghold of Argentine tango in Germany. Her piece “Bandoneon” bridges the gap between tango and modern dance. We’ll be dancing on a 260-square-meter wooden sprung floor, which serves as the Tanztheater’s training dance floor. The visuals created by our two video artists will be projected using a highly professional video system. This system immerses the semicircular arch of the foyer in a world of reality and fantasy, which harmonizes naturally with the two Japanese gardens in the courtyard. We’ll be dancing for 30 hours over the weekend. Our international DJs—Christina Vrentzou, Ezequiel Sanucci from the Netherlands, Thanos Kassidis from Greece, and Franco from Munich—will play their music through a top-of-the-line sound system. The two VJs, Eva/Aahuus and Zara/Wuppertal, will transform the semicircle into a magical space. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be an opportunity to attend Neo workshops led by Ezequiel Sanucci. On Saturday, there will be a long table where we’ll have dinner together with the artists and dancers.
