For each edition of the Wuppertal Literature Biennale, a writing competition is held for emerging authors, and the best entry is selected by an independent jury. This year, Nina Kiedrowicz receives the Wuppertal Literature Biennale Prize, endowed with €7,000, for her short story Lloret de Mar.

We are delighted that the awards ceremony will take place this year at the Pina Bausch Centre under construction. In addition to Nina Kiedrowicz, the writer Helene Bukowski will also be a guest; she received the Wuppertal Literature Biennale’s advancement award in 2016. The award ceremony will be hosted by Thorsten Dönges.

The eighth Wuppertal Literature Biennale will take place from May 7–16, 2026, with this year’s theme being Anger. In around 25 events, authors from Wuppertal and far beyond will bring one of the most defining emotions of our time to life as a constructive political force.
