The Schauspielhaus becomes a philosophical laboratory: every room a different world, every corridor a threshold. Dancers, painters, singers, musicians, and photographers… artists rooted in Wuppertal, carrying histories from Syria, Iran, Italy, Poland, the Philippines, the Congo, and beyond, create a living, interdisciplinary constellation. The audience moves through Syrian melodies and Persian poetry, African rhythms, Italian voices, electronic textures, and lives rarely seen on a single stage, until all paths converge in one collective moment.
An invitation to Wuppertal to recognise itself, and in that recognition, to dance.
A city does not move in straight lines. It moves in rhythms, in the hesitant step of a stranger crossing a square, in the moment two people from worlds that rarely touch find themselves moving together.
The Silent Waltz of the Many is the second chapter of a living artistic journey that began with The Silent Waltz of Shadows (INSEL e.V. Wuppertal, September 2025). Something was set in motion that could not stay on a single stage. Now the shadows move through the city, finding new bodies, new languages, new histories.
Through free open workshops across Wuppertal, a multiethnic community of citizens joins professional dancers as genuine co-authors. Not guests. Not background. Their gestures, memories, and cultural worlds are woven into the structure of the piece itself.
Beyond the performances, open reflection forums extend the dialogue into the civic life of the city.
