Iran, Sudan, Hong Kong or the island nation of Niaue. Every day, news and statistics reach us from places across the globe. Today’s world is caught between the forces of globalization and a narrowing focus on local, national and individual concerns. How can we keep track of it all? How can we empathize with the details of an individual’s fate within a remote country without losing sight of the broader picture? How can we relate to large-scale data and global dynamics?

Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll) and dramaturge Caroline Barneaud (Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne) invite participants to join the early research phase of Microworld, a project currently in development.

Microworld applies statistics from demography, sociology and macroeconomics to a theatre audience: each person receives a new identity, biography and 50 people represent the realities and proportions of 8.2 billion people. Participants become a living model of the world.

Through movement, and collective constellations, the workshop explores how statistics, sociology, and macroeconomics can become tangible, embodied, and emotionally perceptible.

All you need for taking part in this experiment is basic knowledge of the english language, a bit of patience, a curious mindset and 3 hours of time for a performative experiment and a debriefing session on Sunday 21st of June from 2-5pm.
