Living Performance: I Am Because We Are – A dance, music and creation workshop for children
This workshop opens a space where children are not asked to perform or perfect anything. They are invited to arrive exactly as they are, and to discover what happens when movement, sound, imagination and making things with your hands all happen in the same room, on the same day, together.
Over six days, we explore what it means to feel at home in your own body, to listen, to invent, to dare, and to contribute something that is genuinely yours to a shared whole. Self-empowerment here is not a concept we talk about. It is something we practice, quietly and joyfully, every morning from the moment we begin to move.
No experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to show up.
Daily schedule
- Creative dance and movement with choreographer and director Francesco Vecchione and dance specialist Anna Wehsarg, who also leads the art and crafting sessions.
- Clown, play and circus with Baptiste, who brings an unexpected, physical and wonderfully unpredictable energy to the space.
- Music, song and rhythm with Kyebo, creating live sound worlds with and for the children.
- Fashion upcycling and textile creation with Babu Noella, building wearable works from recycled materials that the children will carry into the final showing.
Words, images and small poems also find their place here, born from what the children hear, feel and imagine together.
The week closes on the 24th of July with an informal sharing, where the children present what they have made, moved and discovered together, in their own way, in their own time.
All physical abilities are welcome. Every form of participation is valued.
Please bring comfortable clothing, sports shoes, and a water bottle. Lunch will be provided thanks to the generous support of KNIPEX.

A world that moves fast asks children to keep up. This week, we slow down. We listen to what each child already carries inside, and we build something from that. Not a performance. A presence.
UBUNTU, an African philosophy of life translating as "I am because we are", runs through everything we do here. Community, solidarity, and the belief that every child's voice makes the whole richer.
