Empty Floor portrays, in both a raw and tender way, what it means to live with Alzheimer’s — for those affected and for the people around them. The internationally acclaimed production under the artistic direction of the duo Walter Matteini and Ina Broeckx is a moving, taboo-breaking and poetic work that gives voice to a subject often surrounded by silence.
What makes this production truly unique is that seniors from the local community are invited to share the stage with the professional dancers of the imPerfect Dancers Company. The interaction between generations creates authentic and often unforgettable moments. The interaction between generations creates authentic and often unforgettable moments that speak directly to the heart.
Empty Floor premiered in Italy and has since captivated audiences around the globe: from Brazil to Germany, from Malta to Spain, and from the Netherlands to Romania, Belgium and even Iraq. Wherever it is performed, it leaves a profound impact — not least on the more than 400 senior citizens worldwide who have already taken part on stage as members of this unique production.
Empty Floor is not a performance you simply watch — it is an experience that stays with you.
