PARTITA RADICALE – Katharsis

The Wuppertal ensemble PARTITA RADICALE, which specialises in improvised and new music, will present its latest production, Katharsis, at the former Schauspielhaus Wuppertal and Pina Bausch Centre under construction. In cooperation with Düsseldorf media artist Florian Zeeh, the ensemble explores cleansing rituals and mechanisms in our modern civil society in this extraordinary project. In eight short films, Zeeh has documented everyday cleansing processes – from waste incineration and sewage treatment plants to cleaning campaigns – and captured them in clear, direct imagery. PARTITA RADICALE sets the films to music in an emotionally gripping, occasionally ironic way, thus opening up a new perspective on the everyday ‘dirt’ of our world. The interplay of image and sound creates a reflective, yet aesthetic experience that transports the viewer into new, purified spheres.
In live passages, PARTITA RADICALE opens up spaces for thought and emotion – elevating ‘sewage sludge’ and ‘vacuum cleaners’ to intellectual heights and using them as a starting point for new discourses.
The matinee thus becomes a unique experience in which pre-produced and live elements combine to create a ‘clean and pure’ visual, auditory and intellectual delight..
