40 Years of Equality

There is something to celebrate! Exactly 40 years ago, in 1985, the Wuppertal City Council decided to establish an equality office. This marked the start of many ideas, initiatives, projects and concepts aimed at achieving gender equality in collaboration with stakeholders from civil society, administration and politics.

Since then, the terminology, focus areas and cooperation partners have changed – the path has led from the advancement of women to gender policy and gender mainstreaming to intersectional equality and anti-discrimination work.

The results of 40 years of equality are a good reason to pop the corks – with an evening full of history, inspiration, solidarity, new and old contacts, exchange and networking.
